About Us

Our History
Living Faith Church began from a home Bible study in the mid-1970's. In 1982 the church officially came into existence when a small group of people in Franklin, WV began meeting together weekly as a local church for fellowship and worship. Their desire was to follow Christ with a "living faith" that would be evident both in their lives individually and through their commitment to one another as a community of believers. Those initial meetings grew to what is now Living Faith Church.

In 1986 the church solicited Sovereign Grace Ministries to provide oversight and leadership. Sovereign Grace Ministries is a growing family of churches located in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Wales, England, Bolivia, and Ethiopia, whose primary purpose is to establish and nurture local churches to God's glory. This association, along with other churches allows Living Faith to fulfill God's call to spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations. All Sovereign Grace churches share:

- a vision to establish and support local churches
- a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ
- a commitment to our doctrinal distinctives
- a desire to see the members of these churches glorify God in their public and private lives, both corporately and as individuals.

Our Defining Values
Belief requires a response. The values that shape and define us as a church are our particular response to the biblical truths that we embrace. Simply put, our values are the practical expression of the things we believe, and are summed up in the following points:

A love for the Gospel
A passion for God
An emphasis on sound doctrine
A pursuit of the active presence of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit
A pursuit of godliness through application of biblical truth
A commitment to relationship as a channel for God's grace in our lives
A love of serving
A heart for sharing the Gospel - individually and corporately

Our Doctrinal Distinctives
Although labels can be misunderstood, there are distinguishing characteristics of our church that provide a window into the truths that define us.

We are evangelical. This basically means two things:
1. We believe that the Bible is the essential and infallible record of God's self-disclosure and is therefore our final authority in all matters of life and doctrine.
2. We believe people need to be saved by responding to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are essentially reformed in our theology. This means that we embrace and exult in the sovereignty of God over all things, and that we place the emphasis on the activity of God and the glory of God in the salvation of sinners.

We are charismatic. This means that we are active in our pursuit and practice of all the gifts of the Spirit as found in the New Testament, and that our worship is expressive and passionate.
