The gospel is the good news...
"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The good news of the Bible is that our holy, loving Creator, confronted with human hostility and rebellion, has chosen in his own freedom and faithfulness to become our loving Redeemer and Restorer. In simple terms, it is possible for human beings to be reconciled from our current state of rebelliousness towards God to a place of restored relationship with God through the life, death, and resurrection of his Son, Jesus (Rom. 3:23-25; 2 Cor. 5:18, 21; Eph. 1:7).
Through faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ, we begin to experience the benefits of his righteousness, joy, and peace in this imperfect world (Gal. 2:20) while our ultimate hope is in his promise of eternal life in heaven with him after we die, avoiding the righteous wrath and punishment God has stored up for those who do not know him.
